The King Is In The Room - Who Is Jesus?

We’ve hit fast-forward in the Jesus Story! In one week, we’ve shuttled from the mountain where the 10 commandments were given, over to the mountain where Jesus shows his true colours. This story is a shout-out to everything that has happened to this point in the Bible, and at the same time, a shout-forward, to the most important stuff that was and still is happening for planet Earth.

Questions:

  1. Have you ever thought of or experienced a place where God felt near? Tell the story of your ’thin place’.
  2. Why were Moses and Elijah included in the Transfiguration story? Why not Abraham and David? Unpack their significance.
  3. What impact might this have had on Peter, James and John? How might God intend for this story to impact you?
  4. What goes on in your heart and mind when you’re told that “your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? Use words to describe your feelings and thoughts about this. If you fully believed this were true, what might change in your life?
  5. How should Christians value the Old Testament? Does the fact that Moses and Elijah fade out in this story mean that the O.T. no longer matters? What’s the purpose of the O.T. now for Christians?
