Unshakeable | End of War

Hundreds of years before Jesus, walked the earth, God started talking about what was going to happen. One of the prophets he spoke to was a guy named Isaiah. He spoke in pictures and images that were intended to get inside people’s heads and get them dreaming about a different kind of life. In today’s passage, God has us dreaming about an event (on a rock!) that would change history and especially change the way we settle our disagreements and disputes.

Isaiah 2:1-5

Questions:

  1. Did you ever get into a fight as a kid? Tell that story.
  2. At a time when all the myths were about how the gods dealt with each other, and humans, with violence and deception, explain why Jesus dying on a real cross was so unexpected and powerful.
  3. What is your typical way of being in a dispute/fight/disagreement? Do you talk louder? Do you turtle? Do you villanize your opponent? Throw things? Unpack those responses!
  4. How would you describe the way you are walking today? In the light? In the dark? In the shadows? What would it look like for you to walk fully in the light?
  5. Is there someone you need to make peace with? How might you go about that?
