Through Isaiah, God paints pictures for his people. This passage begins with a parched desert. It’s a picture of our lives. We go through dry seasons and hard patches. And then, out of nowhere, crocuses. For one or two months each year, crocuses pop up on the floor of the Judean wilderness. They are a small sign of hope that doesn’t stay small. The great promise isn’t only that the hard parts will one day be beautiful or that joy will replace sorrow and sighing, but even better, that our God will come. Isaiah points to Jesus.
