Roots: How Salvation Works - Why Is Life So Hard?

This Sunday we begin a new teaching series called “Roots” based on the book of Exodus. You can’t fully understand the life, death and resurrection of Jesus without studying Exodus. Chapter 1 lays the foundation of a people in desperate need of rescue.

Questions:

  1. Were you ever rescued, or did you ever rescue someone else? Tell that story.
  2. The Israelites were flourishing and Pharaoh hated it. What forces work against human flourishing in our day?
  3. Fear (v.10) grows in this story from threat to oppression to slavery to the death of little boys. What has fear looked like in your life?
  4. Two women (v.17) chose not to obey Pharaoh but fear God instead. What does “Fear of the LORD” mean?
  5. What stories in Exodus mirror the life and death of Jesus?
