Practicing The Way | Like Our Rabbi

Jesus has much to say about how life is intended to be lived. We’re always learning; that means, consciously or otherwise, we have teachers. Jesus warns that some teachers are dangerous! They are like the blind leading the blind. In the end, you will become like your teacher. Choose wisely.

Questions:

Luke 6:39-49

  1. Who is/was your favourite teacher growing up, and why?
  2. Who is teaching you these days? Consider how you are becoming like that person. Is this a good thing?
  3. Three things discipleship with Jesus is not: judging people, pretending to be something you’re not, and saying he’s your LORD even though you don’t do what he says. Does one of these convict you this week? Explain.
  4. Three things discipleship with Jesus includes: asking God to do the needed spiritual surgery in your life, asking God to change your inner nature and doing exactly what Jesus teaches. Which one of these are you "living out" right now? Explain.
  5. Share with the group your rhythm (if any) of reading Scripture. Why do you read Scripture that way, and do you find it helps you become more like Jesus?
