Roots | How Salvation Works - What Do Christians Do?

God is seeking a community to join Him in His mission to bless and save the world. Israel was out of Egypt, where their purpose had been clear: make bricks! What was their purpose now? At the foot of Mount Sinai, before they take another step, God has a proposal.

Exodus 19:3-8

Questions:

  1. Tell the story from your life where you committed to be with another person, like on a road trip, vacation, business venture, or marriage? How did that commitment play out?
  2. Identify the 3 parts of their story that God wanted the Israelites to remember. Are there 3 similar parts in your story with God?
  3. From what you know, what did it mean for Israel to obey (Shema) God and keep his covenant? (For example, daily, weekly, monthly sacrifices and Sabbaths). What does it look like to “Shema” God in your life?
  4. What did it mean for Israel to be a ‘kingdom of priests and a holy nation”? What could that look for SPL?
  5. Talk about ways that you can bless the world this week.
