God’s Rhythm

One of the many remarkable things about Jesus’ life is his restraint and rhythm. Knowing he had only three years in ministry might have made him frantic and sleepless, but it wasn’t the case. Thankfully, he gave us practices so that our own lives can also be marked by restraint and rhythm.

  1. What’s your experience with spiritual disciplines? What practices have you engaged with in your spiritual journey?
  2. If the practices are the means, what do you understand the ‘end’ of the spiritual life to be?
  3. Who has most reflected God’s love to you? Where did you see the life of Jesus at work in them?
  4. Do you practice any kind of Sabbath or day of rest? If not, where could you start?
  5. What gives you the most hope about entering these spiritual practices? Does any part of this make you nervous?
