Holy Spirit Come | Can People Change?

The Holy Spirit caught everyone off guard, both the convinced and the curious. The early Church was thrilled by stories of healings and rescues. Over time, as they paid attention to what was going on in each other’s lives, they realized that they were each becoming more like Jesus! They attributed that to the Holy Spirit. The Spirit was on them for powerful deeds and words, and the Spirit was in them, making them more like Jesus.

Questions:

  1. What character quality do you find most appealing or attractive in another person? What quality is least attractive to you?
  2. The desires of the flesh and the desires of the Spirit are in conflict with each other. How aware are you of your desires? How do you determine whether a desire should be pursued or not?
  3. Paul lists the fruit of the Spirit in vv22-23. Read them out loud from The Message translation. Which of those are you good at? Which one do you need more of these days?
  4. Do you spend more time grave-digging or dancing? (This question only makes sense if you heard Sunday’s talk!) Explain the evidence for your answer.
  5. Which of the fruit of the Spirit is most needed in our world today?
