Prayer Wednesday

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
though the earth give way and the mountains
fall into the heart of the sea… Psalm 46

Mountains are considered immovable. The sea is the place of chaos, fear, and unpredictability. In this Psalm, the immovable falls prey to the chaos. The unthinkable happens: majestic, immovable mountains crumble. Chaos overwhelms the secure. Except that even at the worst of times, God remains stronger and a great place to find refuge. He holds both the mountains and the seas in the palm of His hand.

What we face in these days are major issues for us, yes, but not for Him. We rest in Him. We grieve, we plan, we take precautions and speak out, but ultimately we rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Please remember Aleta Voss and her family as they grieve the earthly loss of Rod—husband, dad and gramps. Pray for others who remain ill through this time. Lift up our local long term care facilities where this virus has done its worst damage. Pray for doctors and nurses and first responders. Pray for leaders, local and worldwide, for wisdom and humility. We are fragile dust creatures loved dizzyingly by the Lord Jesus.

Praying with you this day.
Andrew

James 5:13-20 - A life of faith is a life of prayer. It’s also a life lived with others. When we follow Jesus, we belong to Him and to one another as brothers and sisters. As a family, we care for one another in weakness, confess our sins to each other, and gently confront one another.
