Holy Spirit Come | How Does It All End?

The Bible ends with an exchange between lovers: the Groom, Jesus, saying that he’s coming soon, and the Spirit and the Bride - believers worldwide- saying “We can hardly wait!”. The whole Story of the Bible has been a romance! The longing of God’s heart brought to fulfillment. The longing of our hearts finally satisfied. The ’special sauce’ that makes all this come together is the Holy Spirit! He’s the setup guy, matchmaker, bride-protector, best man and much more.

Questions:

  1. What’s something you’re looking forward to?
  2. How much does it affect your day that Jesus says he’s “coming soon”? Explain your answer. What would that promise have meant to the early disciples?
  3. Explain your understanding and experience of the Holy Spirit’s work in your life so far. Do you want more? What would it take for you to know and experience more of the Holy Spirit in your life?
  4. Verse 17 shows that an important part of the Holy Spirit’s mission is to reach those who are thirsty and need what only Jesus offers. Do you ever sense the Spirit moving you towards those who don’t yet believe? Share what that looks like for you.
  5. Pray with each other for more of the Kingdom of Jesus, more of the Holy Spirit, in your life.

Colossians 2:1-7-The way forward for the first Christians wasn't always easy. False teachers brought confusion and deception, prompting Paul to point believers back to the truth. Just as the best way to spot a counterfeit is to know the genuine article, the best way to recognize false teaching is to know Jesus.
