The Story | Whose Advice Should I Take? | Chapter 14

The Unraveling: The Kings Drop The Ball

King Rehoboam continues the descent that has been the story of the kings since the throne was established. No one seems to be able to get it right. Leadership is tough. It requires listening to God and keen self-awareness. Rehoboam’s legacy is that he divided the people of God. May that never happen again.

1. Who are you listening to these days? Name some names, who you follow, who influences you. As a group, you might consider charting your week and carefully noticing how your time is used.
2. What good and not-so-good things did you learn from your parents? How much do their teachings and examples still influence you today?
3. What are you doing to ensure that Jesus gets the most significant piece of your ear? Is there anything that needs to change in how you plan your day?
4. Are your friendships where they need to be? Is there something you could do to strengthen the friendships that need to be louder and reduce contact with acquaintances that deserve less of your ear?
