Exodus 33:12-23

Questions:

  1. When people hear the word “prayer,” what images or expectations come to mind? How have you heard people without a faith background talk about prayer?
  2. In vv 12-13, how is Moses checking in on (and reminding God of) their friendship? Why do you think he starts there?
  3. Moses asks God, “Now show me your glory.” What does this mean? Why can’t God say “yes” to Moses?
  4. Jesus brings us face-to-face with God. How easy is it for you to see yourself as a friend of God’s? What do you sense is the next step in having heart-to-heart conversations with God like Moses did?
  5. Moses's friendship with God was the most important thing in his life. Is there something that has more of your head and heart these days than Jesus? Explain.
