Church 101 | Differences in Opinion

The church at Corinth gives us a glimpse into how the Kingdom landed and found shape in a rather typical First Century Roman city. 1 Corinthians 8

Message Questions:

  1. Why is being right not always the be-all of everything?
  2. Where might a focus on getting our rights, squeeze out love?
  3. “Jesus is Lord.” What are the implications for a person’s life when they proclaim that to be true?
  4. Have you witnessed or experienced a situation where, for the sake of love, someone lets go of being right or getting their rights? What impact did that choice have?
  5. How will you practice letting go of being right, or of getting your rights?

Bonus

Look up Acts 15:28-29, the decision of the Jerusalem Council. Why wouldn’t Paul just point the Corinthians to that rule instead of the principles he gives them in 1 Corinthians 8?
