Advent 2025: Go | John Goes Before Jesus

The first Christmas was hopping! God was fulfilling promises made centuries earlier and now he needed the right people to be in place and ready to go. His first stop was Jerusalem to talk to an old priest about he and his wife having a baby. There was excitement in the air! And so it begins.

Luke 1:5-17

  1. What are your childhood Christmas memories? What emotions do you bring into Christmas this year?
  2. Zechariah was selected to burn incense at the Temple and that was the moment God sent Gabriel to speak with him. Why is that significant? Do you have any unanswered prayers at this point in your life?
  3. John was sent to “prepare the way” for Jesus. Describe his message and how that would get people ready.
  4. Why do you think God waits so long to answer certain prayers?
  5. Pray together about being people who are ready to respond to God’s call this Christmas, whatever that might look like.
