Who Are Your Friends

Friends and family have always been powerful forces for a person who wants to grow wiser. Sadly, friends and family can also be powerful in the disintegration of a life too. How do you know who to lean into and who to lean away from? What kind of friends have you put around yourself? What kind of friend are you?

Proverbs 27:1-10

  1. Describe a close friendship you have right now. What makes it great? Or, what has you second-guessing your time with that person?
  2. What toxic behaviour is identified in this passage? Would you add anything to that list?
  3. Christians are commanded to love everyone. How are we to navigate toxic behaviour or even toxic people?
  4. Describe the sweetness of healthy friendship; what makes it rich?
  5. Explain v10: going to a friend nearby instead of a distant relative when things get tough. Discuss wanting to be rescued vs. wanting to be re-trained.
