A conspiracy involves a secret power at work behind the scenes, undermining those that currently hold sway. Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount is God’s invitation to participate in his great conspiracy by apprenticing to Jesus.

  1. Recall the story of the 3 little pigs. What was the lesson of that story? What similarities are there to Jesus’ instruction in these verses? What differences do you notice?
  2. What is the difference between the wise person and foolish person in this passage?
  3. What does “putting Jesus’ words into practice” look like in your life right now? In what area(s) do you need to start practicing?
  4. It looks like every life faces storms. Is there any part of you that imagined trusting Jesus would make all the hard parts of life disappear? Are you settled with the truth that you will face difficult times? If so, how do you remain peaceful?
  5. Describe a time you walked away from the crowd in order to pursue life in Jesus. How do you walk the balance between loving the world but not imitating it?
