Prayer Wednesday

“We wait in hope for the LORD
He is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice,
For we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD,
Even as we put our hope in you.”

It comes down to this.
Either there is a God who will help us or there isn’t.
Either there is a God who will shield us from evil or there isn’t.
Either there is a God who is holy and righteous over all the cosmos or there isn’t.
Either there is a who God loves us with an unfailing love or there isn’t.
Either we have a sure hope or we don’t.

Isn’t this always the question when we move to pray? Isn’t this the one thing that keeps us from praying ‘unceasingly’? Can we be sure there is Someone ‘out there’ and that Someone cares and is listening?

The only answer I have for all of this is Jesus. Jesus who prayed. Jesus who said “When you pray…” Jesus who said, “that they should always pray and not give up” (Luke 18:1). Jesus who showed us what unfailing love looks like.

Your hope and my hope rests completely on Jesus this day and every day.

Thanks be to God.

Hoping and praying with you this day.

Andrew
