- What do you make of Jesus calling a tax collector to be one of his disciples? What would be a modern day equivalent?
- It seems possible that it would be the first time in their lives that a rabbi ate with those tax collectors. What would that feel like?
- Why are the Pharisees upset? Explain.
- Does this mean that God is soft on sin?
- Explain how eating and drinking with someone is at least the beginning of a ‘call to repentance’.
