Prayer Wednesday

“Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous;
It is fitting for the upright to praise him.
Praise the LORD with the harp;
Make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
Sing to him a new song;
Play skillfully, and shout for joy.”

For some time now I’ve been taking Wednesday mornings to actually pray. Sadly it is possible to write Prayer Emails and then be too busy to actually pray yourself. I’ve taken to grabbing my guitar, my Bible and a journal and finding a far-off room in the church, away from my phone and laptop, to take some time to pray. Part of my praying is singing. Worship in song brings my heart and head where they need to be before our LORD.

Is there a way for you to bring your worship into song this day? I find it hard to get distracted when I’m singing, it’s like when I dance, it takes all my attention and focus! Perhaps that’s in part why God commands singing and shouting and not just thinking or quiet reflection.

We wait and hope for the LORD;
He is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice,
For we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love be with us, LORD
Even as we put our hope in you.

Praying and singing (shouting!) with you this day.

Andrew
