When I was a younger man I was fearless. If we were going cliff jumping, I was the first to jump. If we were paddling down whitewater, my canoe was first down the rapids. If there was a game in the dark I was hiding in the darkest place. Not so much anymore. When Colleen is late coming home by 15 minutes, I'm planning her funeral. When the boys are out with the car, I find myself imagining the worst. When I stand over a golf shot, all I can imagine is all the things that are going to go wrong! One of the most remarkable qualities that the disciples picked up after the Resurrection (but only after, they were chickens before!) was being FEARLESS. They were no longer afraid of people, what people might think of them or what people might do to them. It’s amazing what happens to fear when a person realizes how much God loves them.
